Habitual Traffic Offender (HTO)
Being classified as a habitual traffic offender is a terrible position to be in. You could lose your license for years, negatively impacting your ability to get to the places you need to go, including your job, the grocery store, the doctor, and more.
There are two key ways to be designated as a HTO. The first and most common is being convicted of three key crimes within a five-year period. There is a long list of crimes that count as a strike, but the most common are a traffic infractions, such as speeding, stop sign tickets, and unsafe passing tickets. People who are facing potential HTO status due to having too many tickets are normally aware of this danger: they typically get put on probation or have their license suspended prior to this point. If this is your situation, it is vital that you contact an attorney before the first suspension. You can't simply keep on paying the tickets: you need an attorney to fight to keep them off your record.
If you are found to be a habitual traffic offender, your license will be suspended for a minimum of four years with the maximum being seven. It is extremely important to contact an attorney before the damage has been done and you have already been classified as HTO.
